Back To Basics (BTB) is a women-led, non-profit organization based in Kenya. Our vision is to support communities especially women and youth through sustainable development initiatives, addressing poverty and promoting education and environmental stewardship.
At Back to Basics, we focus on three transformative areas that drive our mission. Each pillar represents a commitment to creating sustainable and lasting change in our communities.

We are committed to transparency and accountability in all our operations. Our governance structure includes an Executive Director, a Board of Directors, and various managers and officers who ensure our projects are effectively implemented and our funds are responsibly managed. Our funding sources include individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and grants, all of which are meticulously accounted for and reported.
We work with vulnerable communities to ensure they have equal rights to economic resources, access to basic services, natural resources and new technologies .We aim to ensure social protection for the poor and vulnerable, support people impacted by climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.
We address the core determinants of health and well-being, including socio-economic determinants, such as education , income and gender.
We achieve gender equality in our programmes by ensuring we achieve those conditions and opportunities, and the power to shape their own lives and contribute to the development of society for women, men, girls and boys in an effort to achieve equitable distribution of power, influence and resources in society.
We encourage sustainable consumption and production patterns by and for communities through various measures, Education and Awareness creation as well as advocating and promoting the management of materials that are toxic to the environment and human health.
We take action to combat climate change and its impacts. Through our programmes we strive and target to Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters for the communities we work with – contributing to understanding the causes of climate change
We work towards the protection, restoration, and promotion of sustainable use of ecosystems, management of our forests, afforestation and re-afforestation, and all efforts to halt and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss. We also integrate ecosystem and biodiversity values into our local program planning processes.
